One man's bike ride around Britain - for Samaritans

The IT consultants

If you like the look of my website, then it’s almost certainly down to the expertise of one or more of the following.

Last year two brothers (Will and Ed Stevens) cycled round the country on tall bikes. I contacted them, via the website they’d set up, applauding their efforts and explaining I’d had similar plans (albeit with a regular sized bike). It was Will and Ed who suggested I might consider using Mr Site as a web-hosting vehicle. It’s easy enough for me to understand but good enough (I hope you agree) to produce a decent website.

More importantly is the help I’ve received from my good friend and colleague, Jeremy Williams (see right). If you think the picture shows a passing resemblance to that chap who speaks Russian and who came to prominence in the fly on the wall series "Airport"; you wouldn’t be the first. But I assure you, my Jeremy is much wittier. Anyway, Jeremy is the brains and ideas behind the fancy logo (actually it was even Jeremy that thought up the name of the website) and exceptional artwork. He also has given me good advice on all matters IT including which digital camera to buy for the trip. As if that’s not enough, Jez will be operating station command (updating the blog and so forth) whilst I’m out on the road. Huge thanks to Jeremy.

When it came to donations and sponsorship, it was clearly a good idea to set up a means for people to donate on-line. I originally toyed with "Just Giving" but Bernie from the Edinburgh branch (thanks to him) suggested Workwithus as an alternative. There’re a charity based in Scotland and provide a number of website solutions. Whilst I was first attracted by the lower set up costs and admin charges on individual donations, I have to say, I am extremely impressed with their all round service. For anyone thinking of doing something similar, look them up.
