Support ideas
There are a number of ways you can show support for what we're trying to achieve. Some require more energy than others. Take your pick from the following:
Donate
If you want to make a donation, please go to the donate page. You can donate on-line with your credit card using the workwithus site that we’ve set up here. That’s the easiest way but you could also send a cheque. If you want to make your donation specific to your local branch, that’s possible too. More details on the donate page.
Join me en route
If you’re a reasonably competent cyclist, I’m not so proud as to want to say I did it all alone. Indeed I’m not proud at all and will willingly accept any support available, especially if you want to act as a windshield. The only proviso is that I do have to be quite selfish. There’s quite a tough timetable to stick to; particularly on some days. So, if you’re quicker than me, I’d have to ask for you to keep to my pace. But if you’re not so fast, I’m afraid I couldn’t wait too long. As a gauge, on a still day I would hope to mosey along at 14 to 15 mph over 3 or 4 hours. If you want to know where I’ll be, explore the detailed itinerary.
Join in on the 15th July
On the last day of my tour, I’m hoping to make it a bit of a celebration. I’ve deliberately made the day a bit shorter than most and the pace will be a lot more gentle. I’ve already started tapping up some support to join me on some or all of the last day’s cycling. The final day starts in Boston and heads west to Grantham before heading south west into Leicester. Whether you feel up to the full day (approximately 72 miles) or starting from Grantham (approximately 37 miles) it’d be great if you could join in. You might want to raise sponsorship of your own (I will provide the form). See more details on this.
Wave me on my way
One of my aims of this project is to gain an appreciation of the wider national movement. So, if you’re a volunteer in any of the branches, it would be great to say hello to you en route. See the itinerary to find out when and where I will be.
Send a message of support
Whether you want to wish me well or just point out that I’m mad (I think I know the latter is true), your messages are more than welcome – in the guest book .
Pass the message on
As I’ve said elsewhere, if just one person realised they were able to and became a longstanding volunteer of a Sams branch, that alone would make it worthwhile. So whether you think someone might want to make a donation or support in any of the other ways listed on this page, please tell them about this website.

Did I say that already? Well it’s worth repeating. More details on this link. And it’s a lot easier than the cycling!
